A Nationwide Indefinite Strike By Doctors

National Association of Resident Doctors(NARDS) has continued to take its roll on patients and their relatives across the country as they embarked on an strike, as they don’t know the actual date the strike will be called off.

However, the association commenced a Nationwide Indefinite strike on Monday, 2nd of August due to the failure of the Federal Government in fulfilling its promises on salary payment, hazard allowances, medical residency training fees and Covid-19 allowances among others.

As reported by Daily Trust, findings indicate that activities have been withdrawn in most public hospitals, with skeletal services offered by consultant doctors for emergency cases and other specialised care.

Some patients who were admitted in public hospitals before the strike, have been left stranded or discharged abruptly as consultants and other medical personnel are overwhelmed.

Meanwhile, patients in public hospitals lamented that the strike was aggravating their pains and health conditions as they had to wait for hours to see an available consultant because they can afford to go private hospitals.

A female patient who was booked before the strike said ” The strike has affected everything and her health is getting worse by the day.

Some patients with pressing health issues had either been discharged by the hospital or left to decide to explore alternative elsewhere due to the indefinite strike.
