BLUE LINE RAIL OPERATIONS BEGINS MONDAY – SANWO-OLU

The Lagos State government says it will begin passenger operations on the Blue Line Rail on Monday, Sept. 4.
 The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who disclosed this on his official handle, @jidesanwoolu, said partial passenger operations will begin on September 5 from 6:30-10am and afternoon peak from 4-9:30pm. He added that the operation will start with 12 trips for two weeks, ramping up to 76 trips/day. There are over 300 CCTV cameras across the entire rail with over 30 cameras monitoring the tracks alone, with command and control centres available in all stations along the track.
 “Lagos, this is your project. Take ownership and treat it with decency as you would treat anything that belongs to you. Any altercation or disturbance on the train will not be tolerated. It goes without saying that vandalism also will not be tolerated,” he noted.
 Collaborating with the governor, the Managing Director, Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, who embarked on test running of the train with newsmen, said that with feasibility study, the train system would be conveying 175,000 passengers on a daily basis.

Aggrieved Applicants For Nigeria Immigration Service, Civil Defence Jobs Petition Interior Minister, Allege Sale Of Slots To Candidates Who Didn’t Take Test, Participate In Screening.

Applicants under the umbrella of National Coalition of Aggrieved/Concerned NSCDC/NIS Ongoing Recruitment Applicants, alleged that the majority of them from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who took part in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and physical screening and qualified for the jobs were never shortlisted for documentation.Applicants for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) from across the country, have petitioned the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, over alleged manipulation of the recruitment process.The applicants under the umbrella of National Coalition of Aggrieved/Concerned NSCDC/NIS Ongoing Recruitment Applicants, alleged that the majority of them from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who took part in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and physical screening and qualified for the jobs were never shortlisted for documentation.

According to the aggrieved applicants, rather than release the list of the successful applicants for documentation, they found out that the CDCFIB had sold their slots to people who, according to them, never took the test or participated in the physical screening process of the recruitment. The aggrieved applicants alleged that the list had been thrashed. It was reported on Monday that the applicants staged a protest at the board office in Abuja, over the recruitment process and demanded the immediate release of the list of successful applicants and an investigation into the recruitment process. The applicants said that based on the recruitment advertisement published by the CDCFIB board in December 2022, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) were approved to recruit a total number of 10,000 officers in both junior and senior cadres of their respective outfits.zones. This is an injustice done to qualified, bonafide and the most eligible candidates.“Sir, it was later found that the new and illegal list is made up of the “WHO KNOW WHO” candidates that did not pass through the due process of the recruitment, some may not have the required qualification or even the recruitment application ID. These aliens did not attend or participate in both the CBT and the geo-political zones screening.“The aggrieved applicants therefore called on the minister for intervention and investigation into the matter and urged him to ensure that the process is conducted in a transparent and unbiased manner, and that “this injustice and corruption does not stand, and that eligible and qualified candidates that are deserving get the job.”FILEFILEAddressing the aggrieved applicants during their protest, the Deputy Secretary to the CDCFIB appealed to them to be calm, saying the board had received their complaints and would look into the issues.

LOCKING OF HOSTEL TOILET

The students Affairs has passed a bill that all hostel residents should lock their toilets to avoid messing it up on 31 August 2023.

According to the students affairs,it was as a result of students defecating and urinating on the floor and which the cleaners has seen a habit of wickedness and reported to the students affairs. So in regards of the above complaint made by the school cleaners,the students affairs has urge every floor in the hostel to Lock their toilets and any toilet messed up with defecates or urine will be clean by the whole students in that floor and won’t take excuses.

DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION BRINGS BACK IT’S WEEKLY UNIFORM:A RETURN TO TRADITION

The department of mass communication has seen it fit to bring back the methods of it weekly dressing which is skyblue on a black. According to the MACOSA president Mussadiq Abdulahhi said the methods has long been put into practice and forgotten and bringing it back is a form of awakening the Mass communication traditions.

He urge students to abide and comply and that failure to adhere will attract punishment.
