CHOLERA OUTBREAK SPREADS TO MORE LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN KATSINA

The state commissioner for health, Yakubu Danja says the outbreak of cholera has risen to 75 percent and about 1,534 people tested positive.
This was disclose on Tuesday in Katsina as he said 25 out of the 34 local government areas are now affected.


According to Premium Times, Mr Danja who conference, mentoined that Funtua,Charanci, Kankara,Rimi,Sabuwa,Jibia and Kafur are some of the areas affected.

He further said Funtua had the highest number of cases with 384,followed by Sabuwa with 232,Kafur 215,Charanci 135,Kankara 71and Jibia with 69 cases.

However, all the people affected were male and in terms of mortality, Funtua has the highest number of affected people.

Mr Danja added that rapid diagnostic cholera, medical supply kits and consumable have been distributed in other to help reduce morbidity and mortality.

Cholera is a bacterial disease usually spread in contaminated water which symptoms include diarrhea and dehydration, has led to scores of deaths in many Nigerian states in the past months.

Therefore, physicians adviced that fruits and vegetables should be properly washed and drinking water should be well purified because these will help reduce the risk of cholera in the country.
