The Governor of Kastina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, extends his heartfelt condolence to the family of the late Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi.

Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi a proud son of Ogun State holds on indelible place in Nigeria History who regrettably passed away at the age of 87 after a brief illness. “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to a man whose contribution has left an indomitable mark on our nation history and identity “.

Governor Radda, speaking on behalf of the people of Kastina State, offer his deepest sympathise to the bereaved family and the Government of Ogun State. He acknowledges the profound significance of Mr.Akinkunmi creative endeavour in designing our nations flag, a symbol that encapsulates the unity and diversity of Nigeria.

The people of Kastina State join in mourning the loss of an exceptional Nigerian and they stand in unwavering solidarity with Ogun State and the Akinkunmi family as they navigate this period of mourning and remembrance.

NNPP CRISIS: NEW LEADERSHIP DEMANDS OVER N1BN ACCOUNT FROM SALES OF FORMS

Dr Agbo Gilbert Major has asked former leaders of the party to urgently account for over N1bn raised from the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, ahead of the 2023 presidetial general election.

In a meeting at the party’s national secretariat, after a review of a situation which result to the gross mismanagement of the party in the past one year in Abuja, the NNPP accused Buba Galadima of corruption and illegal imposition of candidate.

It also queried the presentation of senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the sole presidential candidate of the party in 2023.

According to the NNPP acting National publicity secretary, Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq, stated that “the new leadership of the New Nigeria People Party, under Dr Agbo Gilbert Major had its maiden meeting at the Abuja National Secretariat and after the reviews of gross mismanagement in the party, over past a year come out with some following resolutions:

“To conduct a thorough probe into the mismanagement of over one billion naira (N1bn) raised from the sales of forms”.

The meeting resolved to invite relevant security agencies to properly examine the accounts of the party, with a vice to demanding explanations from the party’s Chairman who left in March 2023, the sacked acting Chairman and the National Secretary.

This is to restore confidence of the party members/candidates who came forward with their hard earned money to purchase fund.

The party called on its numerous supporters and members to be calm in the face of this assault of Kwankwasiyya movement whose members where made to believe the party is sold to them and called on all aggrieved and displaced members who left for whatever reason to return home.

THE NIGERIAN POLICE ARREST PEOPLE WHO VANDALIZE THE 2ND NIGER BRIDGE

The Anambra State force command has arrested two suspected robbers vandalising the newly completed 2nd Niger bridge.The suspects, who said they were from Enugu and Ebony state, were arrested at the Anambra end of the bridge at Obosi in Idemili North local government areas

Anambra State police relations officer,PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement that the robbers were also dispossessing people of their belongings at the time of their arrest.

The police team which was on surveillance patrol on the bridge to prevent vandals from stealing expansion joints were alerted to activities of the gang near the obosi end of the bridge.”the police team monitored the gang and swooped on them,arrested the gangsters, while others fled”.

The state commissioner of police, Aderemi Adeoye directed that owners of the recovered sim cards be located with a view to assembling evidence for successful persecution of the arrested suspects.

NLC: CALLS FOR A WARNING STRIKE

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Labour Congress ,to embank on a total and indefinite shutdown of the nation within 14 working days or 21 days, until steps are taken by the government.

However the council will commence a 2-days nationwide warning strike on Tuesday and Wednesday which is on the 5th and 6th of September,2023 to demonstrate our readiness for the indefinite strike later in the month and to also demand that the state vacates the illegally occupied national headquarters of the National Union of Transport Workers (NURTW).

The National Executive Council (NEC) deeply analysed the prevailing national sentiment,looking at the extensive hardships and affecting all citizens across the country. The council access the federal government’s failure to establish relevant structures to address the suffering in our nation.

In addition, it considered the government’s reluctantly neglect and disregard for engaging with national stake holders through channels of social dialogue.

However, the NEC-in session observed that, the Federal Government refused to reach an agreement with organised Labour on the critical situations of the consequences of the hike in petrol which has result to massive suffering on Nigerian citizens and also there is a renewed destructive attack on trade unions and it’s leadership by the state and it’s agent across the country. Certain Avaition companies of which Airpeace is the flagship have continued to violate the right of workers to join unions of their choice in disregard to the provision of international conventions and laws of Nigeria.
