HUK POLY REVIVES DRESS CODE IN THE INSTITUTION

In it’s effort to help the management of Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic in prohibiting indecent dressing in the institution, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic HUK POLY chapter Katsina state has called on its member to be ambassador of dress code committee.

This was stated by the ASUP publicity Secretary Mal. Ibrahim Gidado in a message sent to the members of the union.

He urged the members of the dress code committee to make it their responsibility in enforcing the dress code regulations during lectures or any academic activities they engage in.

According to him, failure to act upon a student’s violation of the dress code during lectures will be considered an endorsement of indecent dressing.As t

he regulations was established to ensure the safety and well-being of all the members of the academic community

You will find them in any Nigerian market, especially from those selling the zobo leaves.

How to Make Zobo DrinkStep

1)Hand-pick every unwanted substance from the zobo leaves, wash and start cooking with about 3 liters of water. Don’t soak before washing, just pour water, wash, and transfer into the cooking pot.

Step 2) Cook to boil before adding the ginger, you can pound them to a pulp or grind with a kitchen blender, the same way I did mine.Add the cloves too.

Step 3)Cook for another ten to fifteen minutes before you taste the zobo, it may taste sour.

Step 4) Allow to cool a little, filter and add the joccy pineapple flavor that already contained sugar.You don’t want it too sweet. So add half a teaspoon and observe. Refrigerate.That is how to make zobo, it’s easy, right😚It should really taste nice.

Ifunanya Christopher Nwabodo a student from the department of Library and Information Science (LIS) has made emphasis on the challenges she encountered while resuming the new academic session during an interview that took place in the school campus.

In the interview by our correspondents Lilian and Esther,she stated that she resumed on the second week rather than first week because of the financial challenges she faced in gathering her school fees,foodstuffs and also money for other expenses.

Furthermore,she also complained about the increase of transportation in the campus and since there is no money she finds it difficult to transport herself from the hostel to her department.The economy hardship has become a serious problem that buying data to do her assignment has become difficult she deployed to using other people’s phone because she cannot go to the cafe as it is quite expensive . She hope and pray it doesn’t affect her performance this session.

HOW TO MAKE VIENNESE WHIRLS

How to make Viennese Whirls

Ingredients
3/4 cup icing sugar
250 g unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1½ all-purpose flour
1/2 cup corn flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1½ cups icing sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp milk
1/4 cup strawberry jam

How to make Viennese Whirls :
Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180C/355F (standard) or 160C/340F (fan-forced/convection). Grease and line two large baking trays with baking paper.

In the large bowl of an electric stand mixer, add butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat together on medium speed for 2 minutes or until very pale and fluffy.

Sift over the flour and cornflour. Use the paddle attachment of your mixer to stir the mixture together until a very soft dough forms. Prepare a large piping bag with a star-tipped nozzle.

Scrape approximately 1/3 of the dough into the piping bag and twist the top of the bag to secure.

Step 2

On the prepared baking trays, pipe a small spiral. Tip: start from the outside of the spiral and work your way inward, then pull the piping bag upward to create the ‘tip’ of the whirl.

Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all the whirls have been piped. Bake for 10 minutes or until no raw dough is visible and/or the whirls are very lightly golden around the edges. Allow to cool completely.

In the large bowl of an electric stand mixer (or using a hand-held mixer), add butter, sugar, vanilla and milk.

Beat together on medium speed for 3-5 minutes or until pale and creamy. Choose two cookie of a similar size. Spread 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam onto one cookie. Spread or pipe buttercream onto the other cookie

GABON MILITARY OFFICERS DECLARES COUP AFTER ALI BONGO WINS DISPUTED ELECTION

Military officers in Gabon says they have taken power and put the president,Ali Bongo Ondimba,under house arrest as the country becomes the latest in Africa to suffer an attempted coup,only weeks after militaries troops seized power in Niger .

A group of military personnel appeared on state television to announce they were seizing power to overturn the results of a presidential election, seeking to remove the president whose family has held power for nearly 56 years. The coup attempt came hours after Bongo,64, was declared winner of an election marred by fears of violence and was last seen in public casting his vote on Saturday. The officers introduced themselves as members of the committee of transition and the restoration of institutions .

If successful,the coup would be the eighth in west and central Africa since 2020.The most recent one ,in Niger,Mali,Fumes,Burkina Faso and Chad .

The officers said they represented all Gabonese security and defence Forces and announced the election results were cancelled, all borders were closed until further notice and state institutions dissolved

“today the country is undergoing a severe institutional political,economic and social crisis”

the officers said in a statement, that the 26th August election lacked transparency and credibility.

“In the name of the Gabonese people,we have decided to defend the peace by putting an end to the current regime “

MACOSA EXCOS ORGANISE FIRST MEETING

The mass communication students Association (MACOSA) Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic chapter held their first meeting on Monday 28th August 2023, at the newsroom in Mass Communication Department to discuss what the union stands for and what the Excos are expected to do to move the union forward.

The meeting was chaired by the patron of the Union Malam Ibrahim Muhammad,he started by introducing himself and his position and also gave room for the other Excos to introduce themselves.He said the main duty of the union is to attend to the complains of the students in the department and to see how they can do something of benefit to the department and the student.The Excos are expected to follow all rules and regulations of the union and also the department,they are warned not to do anything that will cause problem to them and department.

Mallam Ibrahim Muhammad also discussed the issue of department orientation which is expected to take place immediately after the general orientation of the school. He also talked about the issue of MACOSA week which the students are expected to for which will take place in the last semester.

Additionally,he assigned the Excos to arrange their project plan that they are supposed to do in the department without wasting time

KATSINA GOVERNOR ORDER THE DISTRIBUTION OF 40,000 BAGS OF RICE

The Katsina state Governor Dikko Umar Radda has ordered the distribution of 40,000 bags of rice to the people of the state to reduce the hardship of the people after petroleum subsidy removal in Nigeria

In an information he shared in his social media website,The Governor said his government bought the rice from the palliative money received from the federal government. He also said ,he approved the setting of committee that are going to share the rice to the level of local government and polling unit in the state. Also,the committee is going to monitor the distribution and how it will take place

Additionally, he also warned that any body found trying to deceive or cheat in the distribution of the rice directly or Indirectly will be arrested immediately
