Matriculation: Welcome Address by the Rector, Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic.

It is yet another annual occasion of the Orientation and Matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic’s student’s intake for The 2020/2021 Academic session.


The Rector, Hassan Usman Katsina polytechnic, Dr Ibrahim Mudi kurfi in his welcome address thanked the Almighty Allah for the opportunity to witness yet another annual event, the orientation and matriculation of the newly admitted students.


He welcome and congratulate the students for securing admission into the polytechnic which he tagged the Premier institution in katsina state.


The occasion which took place on Thursday 23rd September 2021 at the school multipurpose hall was Graced by many invited dignitaries, elites, professors from other instutions and the school different College Directors, Head of Departments, auxiliary staff among others were all in attendance.


Dr Kurfi said, it is with gratitude going by the school record, a total number of three thousand, six hundred and twenty four students have been admitted this year in addition to two thousand, six hundred and twenty eight returning students across the different programmes offered in the polytechnic.


The Rector, briefed the students on the do’s and don’ts of the polytechnic which he said should guide their conducts as students which is why each and everyone of them will be given a student hand book which contain the school regulations.


He equally draw their attention to specific issues as contained in the hand book like, examination malpractice, dress code, cultism, signing out( a new demon) in academic institutions and other hidden bad behaviors among students,which the polytechnic will operate zero tolerance on them and vow not to spare any chance to allow the perpetrators of such behaviors go free because they will be fished out and punished according to the laws and regulations of the institution.


He advised the students to always remember the sole and important purpose of leaving home and family to be in school is no more than securing knowledge for self-upliftment, preparatory to serving their communities and nation at large. And so they can only achieve that by leading a fair, righteous and responsible life.


He state that the polytechnic had in recent times received visitors from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the accreditation, resource visitation and re-accreditation of some programmes. Which out of 32 programmes, all were approved except four. Which all necessary efforts are being taken to remedy the deficiencies in order to have them accredited.


He also called on all the stakeholders in the school, particularly his colleagues both academic and non-academic staff, to be alive to their responsibilities and be ready to offer the new students as they do to continuining ones all the help they needed to succeed in their different pursuits as they would thier own children in similar situations in other institutions.


Finally, he thanked the mother ministry, the Department of higher education for the continued support given to the polytechnic, and also the Government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Rt., Honorable Aminu Bello Masari for his uncommon interest in the polytechnic. And also the Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TEFUND) whose counter-funding in the realms of infrastructure, and provision of equipment, impacted heavily on the changing faces of staff and the institution today.
