Mechanical Engineering generally, is define as a design or manufacturing of something
that will solve people’s problem. Mechanical engineer’s design a product that maybe of
help to different people. Technically, mechanical engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering from design to manufacturing to the marketplace for any object. Mechanical engineers analyze their work using the principles of motion, energy, and force—ensuring that designs function safely,
efficiently, and reliably, all at a competitive cost.
Mechanical engineers make a difference. That’s because mechanical engineering careers center on creating technologies to meet human needs.Virtually every product or service in modern life has probably been touched in some way by a mechanical engineer to help
humankind.
However, its development can be traced back several thousand years around the world. In the 19th century, development in physics led to the development of mechanical engineering science. The field has continually evolved to incorporate advancement; today mechanical engineering are pursuing development in such areas as composites, mechatronics,and nanotechnology.
Mechanical engineering has many impact to the society. There is one slogan about mechanical engineering,which says “if it moves, it is mechanical “, anything that moves is mechanical because it’s requires the mechanical energy before it moves. Mechanical
engineering is about the production of parts or product that will be useful to the society general. It also involves manufacturing products that are meant for the society to help them elevate some of their day to day activities.In mechanical engineering,products before they are been produced,it has to be design in such a way that it will actually have impact to the society. Before coming up with a design ,there must be an existing product or design that has to be solved. Before making a design , you have to check if there is a product that needs to be elevated, so
you can come up with design that helps solve the problem. For example, maybe there is an existing product that needs proper design , so there is a need for a new design to improve the existing product.
Furthermore, some product are been abandoned because they lack the design and
facilities that the new designs has. Using handsets as an example,the first handset was
produced without having to use the internet,but as times goes on, the mechanical engineers begin to improve the designs, making it easier and faster for use. The Engineers saw there was a need of improving or producing more applications to help the society further use the handset to connect with internet.
Mechanical engineers have helped to design and build the machines that are used to manufacture products, from textiles to electronics. This has helped to make manufacturing more efficient and cost effective, and has enabled companies to produce more products at a lower cost, making them accessible to more people. Another important impact of mechanical engineering on society is its contribution to manufacturing and industry.
The challenges of mechanical engineering include Lack of machine because mechanical engineering involves production. Are the required machine needed for the design available? . However, a mechanical engineer cannot produce a design or product without capital . Capitals are needed when producing or manufacturing a product or designs. In addition, skills are required before coming up with a design or product. Lack
of skills are one of the challenges of mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineers needs the material required to produce a product or design,without material, the design can not take place.
Mechanical engineers are frequently involved in large-scale projects that require
effective project management skills. They need to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, adhere to project timelines, and ensure efficient utilization of resources.Managing the complexities of such projects demands strong organizational and communication skills. Safety is a paramount concern in mechanical engineering,
particularly in industries such as manufacturing and transportation. Engineers must design systems that prioritize the safety of users and operators. Identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and implementing appropriate safety measures are vital challenges that mechanical engineers must overcome.
