Nigeria communication commission (NCC) loss 11.5 million.

The NCC during the week give the break down over the loss of 11.5 million in telephone lines subscribers.

According to the NCC, the telcos subscribers base droped by 11.5 million by 5.77 per cent telephone lines from 199.31 million subscribers in July.

The numbers of active telephone lines was 199.31 million, from July 2020 and with 104.41 per cent of population in total. Within the month of August 2020, it increased to 203.53 million, with 106.62 percent of the total population.

The fall continued till January 2021. With 200.21 million, and 104.89 percent of the population. While in February 2021, subscribers was 196.08 million, and 102.72 percent of population.

Within the month of march 2021, it increased to 192.41 million, with 100.80 percent of the subscribers population. By April 2021, it drops to 188.71 million and 98.86 percent of the subscribers.In May 2021, it was 187.03 million, 97.98 percent.

According to Punch newspaper, by July 2021 there were 198.96 million active GSM linea. Within the month of July the number had reduced to 187.47 million subscriber. Showing a loss of 11.5 million lines.

The requirement for sims card link by the federal government asking subscribers to link there sims cards line with their National Identity number (BVN) could have been the cause of loss over the drop down of subscribers base.

Within a considerable period of time telecom operators where barred from selling new cards and replacement of lost Sims card.

In April when the ban was lifted they had loss over 15.77 million of their subscriber. The telecommunication companies gained 15 million subscribers in the month of August 2021. This was from the new industry statistics of Nigeria communication commission NCC release on Wednesday.
