His Excellency the Executive Governor Katsina State Malam Dikko Radda says the state government would train and re-train teachers across the state.

The Governor disclosed this at an engagement meeting with the Zonal Coordinators, Education Secretaries,Principals and head teachers under Daura senatorial zone.

This according to him is to equip the teachers with modern methods of teaching.

The Governor also promised to develop the quality of Education in the state.

He charged teachers across the state to always put state and the children/students in their precious minds in discharging their duties, reminding them to also be more dedicated and avoid absenteeism and dogging classes for the betterment of Education system in the State.

In her remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for education Hajia Hadiza Yar’adua Tuggar, thanked the Governor for entrusting her with the great opportunity to serve and help the State towards securing a brighter future of its children.

The Commissioner also outlined some of the areas that her ministry will put more emphasis which includes; capacity building of teachers, security of the students and schools, infrastructures, feeding program, quality assurance and teachers welfare.

The Commissioner explained that;” as we are all aware of the fact we can’t build the mind without also catering to the body, as such teachers welfare will be a priority to ensure that they are well- catered to so that they can also deliver their best to the students”.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Hajiya Mairo Mohammad, while setting the context, presented the current state of Education in the State ranging from the statistic figures, challenges as well as the achievements.

Earlier in the opening remarks, the Director Administration and Supplies for the Ministry, Alhaji Muntari Lawal, called on the participants to open up and say their minds, saying this is the right avenue to speak with the aim of finding solutions for the lingering issues that were affecting the Education in the state.

In their goodwill messages, the Executive Secretary Science and Technical Education Board ( STEB) Professor Kabir Ibrahim Matazu and Usman Umar Mai’adua Director Policy, Research and Statistics (PRS) State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) who represented the Permanent Member 1 of the Board pledged their support to the new administration for the development of Education system in the state.

Questions and answers session was anchored by the Kastina State AGILE Project Dr Mustapha Shehu.

The Honourable Commissioner and the Directors were warmly received at the Palace of the Emir of Daura for the courtesy visit.
