Real Madrid’s best start in the post-Cristiano Ronaldo era

ver since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madridin 2018, Los Blancoshave not enjoyed the same success they did as when he was in their dressing room.

However, five games into the 2021/22 season under returning head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid are in full force after picking up four wins and one draw in all competitions.

Real Madrid haven’t enjoyed a start to a season this prosperous since 2017/18, the last campaign that Cristiano Ronaldo spent at the club.

The Cristiano Ronaldo era marked a time when Real Madrid were the biggest threat in the Champions League, as well as a consistent threat in LaLiga Santander.

Between the 2013/14 and 2017/18 seasons, Real Madrid won the Champions League four times out of a possible five, but since then they haven’t even reached the final once, with two all-English finals in the last three years.

Although their tremendous start to the season is not a guarantee of trophies to come, it is a great foundation for the upcoming year.

European elite

With this start to the season, Real Madridcurrently boast one of the best records in Europe.

Bayern Munich are the best, having managed six wins and one draw in seven games with a total of 31 goals scored.
